Lotte Giants pitchers Park Se-woong and Na Kyun-an have been named to the final roster of the Hangzhou Asian Games squad led by Ryu Jung-il.

The Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) and the Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA) announced on 9 September the 24-player roster for the national baseball team to compete at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.안전놀이터

The KBO Power Enhancement Committee (Chairman Cho Gye-hyun) conducted the final roster selection from 198 players (180 KBO League players and 18 amateur players) on the pre-registration list submitted to the Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA) on 28 April. The list of 24 athletes recommended by the Power Enhancement Committee to the KBSA was submitted to the Korean Sports Council after final deliberations by the KBSA Performance Enhancement Committee.

With the aim of actively developing players who will be the mainstay of the national team in international competitions for years to come, the Hangzhou Asian Games squad was selected from among KBO League players aged 25 or younger or in their fourth year in the league, with three players aged 29 or younger selected as wild cards. Masan Yongmago pitcher Jang Hyun-seok was selected from the amateur ranks.

Lotte head coach Larry Sutton said of Park Se-woong and Na Kyun-an’s selection, “I’m very proud of them. It’s always an honour to represent your country. I hope they will fight hard as part of the Lotte team as well as the national team.”

Park Se-woong said, “As I was selected to represent the national team, I will take responsibility and strive to develop Korean baseball, and I will make up for what I lacked in the last WBC so that I can take the mound in a more mature manner. As I am travelling with young players, I will lead them well so that I can reward them with good results.”

Na Gyun-an said, “I still can’t believe I’ve been selected for the national team. I can’t afford to get too excited because I’ll be starting on the day. I will focus more on today’s game and do my best to repay the team for their faith in me.”
