“It was because of change and challenge.”
Yoon Chae-young (36), after her professional debut, she played on the Korean Women’s Professional Golf (KLPGA) tour, then in 2017 she left for the Japan Women’s Professional Golf (JLPGA) tour. he was thirty years old He challenged a new stage when he was in middle school.
He said, “It’s been about 10 years since I’ve been on the tour, so I’ve changed my mind a lot since I was a rookie. The goal of ‘I have to work harder, I have to do better’ gradually became blurry. I wanted to set a new goal and raise the same passion I had in my early 20s. Skills I felt that I was ready, but I felt that a change was needed.”
The reason I chose the JLPGA tour was because of a tournament I happened to participate in. When she lost her original intention and was exhausted, she appeared as an invited player at the Yamaha Ladies Open, which happened to be her sponsor’s event. Yoon Chae-young said, “The atmosphere on the JLPGA tour was not bad, and the performance at the tournament was good. ‘I think I can do well here?’ I became more confident and took the pro test.”
It was not easy for him to go on an overseas tour at the age of 30. It was difficult for him to adapt well to the changed environment and his grades did not come out. Sid Yuji worried about whether he could do it, but gave up everything.
Yoon Chae-young said, “Japan has very small hotels in particular. Aren’t I a foreign player with a lot of luggage? It took me a long time to adapt. Also, the JLPGA tour has two practice rounds, so I was on the course except for one day a week.” Now, with the idea of traveling, I started going on tour with a light heart. So, the results came out from summer.” 안전놀이터
He chose to retire this year, but at the end of last year, he took on the challenge until the end, such as taking the JLPGA Tour Q School. Even though the result was not good, he did his best, so he has no regrets.
He explained, “I was really worried about going to Q School. I’ve been on tour for a long time, and I’m proud of myself. But I still love golf. I thought I’d regret it if I didn’t.”
Yoon Chae-young will retire this year. On the JLPGA tour, where she has been active for the past six years, she plans to say goodbye at the Yamaha Ladies Open, which will be held on the 30th. He laughed, saying, “It’s an honor to retire on the same course I first started on the JLPGA Tour as an invited player.”
“Retired friends say that they are not stressed anymore and sleep well, so they really like it. My juniors say that my sister is a player suitable for the tour, so there are two reactions,” said Yoon Chae-young, who said, “I haven’t played the last game yet, so I can’t feel it. I think it will be a bit disappointing,” he said.
“But I liked golf better in Japan. Regardless of my grades, golf was really fun, and I realized in Japan that I like golf,” he said. I hope you will actively go on an overseas tour.”
Yoon Chae-young’s retirement match, the Yamaha Ladies Open, will be held at Katsuragi Golf Club in Fukuroishi, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan from the 30th to April 2nd. It is broadcast live on SPOTV Golf & Health and can also be watched on OTT service SPOTV NOW.
