On the 18th (Korean time), MLB.com announced that “Cole was selected as the American League Player of the Week and Gallen was selected as the National League Player of the Week.” Cole, who is in his 11th MLB season, was named Player of the Week for the second time in his career. In the National League, Arizona’s Jack Gallon was named Player of the Week. Galen won all of his two starts last week with 5 hits, 1 walk, 18 strikeouts and no runs in 13⅔ innings. His 18 strikeouts was first in the major leagues last week.
Gallen was named Player of the Week for the second time in his career, following last September.
